Sankofa Spirit by jabalwon Sankofa Spirit by jabalwon
24" x 18" Acrylic on canvas

(work in progress)

Some folks have said they see no need to add more to this, but the composition doesn't feel complete to me just yet.

This is a collage depicting the spiritual culture and heritage of Africa. The land where all life began.

Truly beautiful piece of work! Looks great as is.......but if you're considering additions, how 'bout a clutched brown or black fist/grasping white hand or a white-faced misquito with its probiscus stuck in the northwest coast (where Morocco/Western Sahara are). Colonialism, struggle and resistance are recurring themes in African heritage, wouldn't you agree?

Again.....beautiful piece!

I agree. as the artist, of course you will be able to see missing things in the piece when others who take it all in cannot. Personally, I think its perfect (and I love it!). However, if you as the creator of this piece find something different to add, go for it.

I definitely understand when you say you feel the need to add more to this. If you take Africa as your inspiration (or topic) you most definitely will have the need to add. African culture is one of the most vibrant i've ever seen.

Do post if you modify this one further. :) But it is already great as it is.
